How Chromix Works

What Is Dye Sublimation?

Dye sublimation is a printing process where heat and pressure are used to transform solid ink into a gas, which then permanently bonds with a specially coated surface.

Unlike regular printing where ink sits on top of a material, dye sublimation infuses the ink directly into the coating of the aluminium panel. The ink becomes part of the metal at a molecular level.

This is the same technology used by professional photographers, fine art galleries, and museum exhibitions worldwide. The result is unmatched colour vibrancy, detail, and durability.

How Your Metal Poster Is Made

01
Prepare
Your artwork is colour-corrected and optimised for sublimation output at the highest possible resolution.
02
Print
The image is printed in reverse onto specialised sublimation transfer paper using our Epson SC-F500 printer.
03
Press
The transfer paper is placed onto a polymer coated aluminium panel and pressed at extreme heat (around 200°C) and pressure for 60 seconds.
04
Finish
The panel is cooled, inspected for quality, paired with a magnetic mounting kit, and carefully packaged for shipping.

Why Aluminium?

It's lighter than steel. A Chromix A2 piece weighs around 400g. Competitors who use steel panels produce heavier products that need screws and brackets to mount. Ours uses a simple magnetic pad.

It doesn't rust. Aluminium is naturally corrosion resistant. The panel itself can handle humidity, but we recommend mounting in dry, indoor spaces for the best adhesive bond. Kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, offices, and gaming setups are all ideal.

It enhances colour. The polymer coating on our aluminium panels is specifically engineered to absorb ink more evenly than steel, producing sharper detail and more vivid colour.

It's sustainable. Aluminium is one of the most recycled materials on the planet. Over 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today.

How to Mount Your Metal Poster

1

Clean the Wall

Wipe the wall surface with the included cleaning wipe. Make sure it's clean, dry and grease-free. Wait 3–5 minutes for the surface to dry completely before moving on.

2

Apply the Protective Leaf & Magnet

Peel the backing off the protective leaf and press it firmly onto the wall where you want your metal poster. Smooth out any air bubbles. Then peel the rubber magnetic sheet and press it firmly onto the centre of the protective leaf for 20 seconds. For best results, leave the mounting pad on the wall for a full 24 hours before hanging your piece — this lets the adhesive bond firmly.

3

Apply Iron Sheet to Your Metal Poster

Peel the backing off the iron sheet. Stick it onto the back of your Chromix metal poster, centred on the poster. This is what connects magnetically to the wall mount.

4

Hang Your Piece

Align the iron sheet on the back of your piece with the magnet on the wall. They'll click together and hold securely. To remove, swap, or reposition your piece, simply lift it off the magnet — no damage to your wall.

Recommended assembly temperature: 16°C – 39°C. Avoid uneven or textured walls — the smoother the surface, the better the hold.

Choose Your Size

Every size ships with a magnetic mounting kit. Every piece is printed on 1mm polymer coated aluminium.

SizeDimensionsBest For
A4210 × 297 mmDesks, shelves, compact spaces
A3297 × 420 mmAbove a shelf, bedside, small feature wall
A2420 × 594 mmLiving rooms, bedrooms, gaming setups — our most popular
A1594 × 841 mmStatement pieces, large walls, offices

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth and any household glass cleaner. The surface is non-porous so fingerprints and dust come off easily. No special products needed.
Sunlight
Your piece is rated to resist fading for 65+ years indoors. For the longest lifespan, avoid placing it in direct, prolonged sunlight.
💧
Moisture
The aluminium panel is water resistant and corrosion resistant. For the strongest magnetic mount bond, hang your piece in a dry indoor space away from direct steam or moisture. Kitchens are fine as long as it isn't directly above a stove or kettle.

Chromix vs Other Wall Art

Canvas prints crack, sag, and collect dust in the texture. Chromix is flat, smooth, and wipes clean.
Paper posters tear, fade in months, and need frames. Chromix lasts decades and mounts magnetically.
Vinyl on steel can peel and feels plastic. Chromix ink is infused into the aluminium permanently.
UV prints on Dibond sit on top of the surface and can scratch. Chromix ink is infused beneath the coating for permanent protection.
Imported metal posters come with import duties and 3 week waits. Chromix is made locally and ships in days.
Mounting drills and brackets? Not here. Chromix uses a tool free magnetic system. Stick it. Done.
